Frequently Asked Questions
Estate Administration Professional
Q:
Will the Estate Administration
Professional
run on Windows Vista or Windows 7?
A: Our tests indicate that the programs will
not install
correctly on Windows Vista. Windows
Vista added security features that disable the ability to install
and/or register certain files on the computer's operating system.
Our understanding is that many other commercial software
applications will not install correctly either. The program will,
however, install correctly on Microsoft's latest operating system,
Windows 7.
Q: Do I need any other software to run
the Estate Administration Professional?
A: No. The Estate Administration Professional program is completely self-contained. The data for each form is input onto the
screen and when you are ready to print the form, you simply click on
the print command. The form is printed directly to your printer as a
complete form, i.e., the computer generated probate form with all
the data you have inserted onto that form. The forms are not
saved to any word processing or other software program. When you
need to reprint the form, you simply open the existing data file and
reprint the form. (The data for each form is saved as a simple text
file (minimizing the space used on your computer) and when recalled,
that data is inserted onto the form in the appropriate places.)
Q:
Can I
use a dot matrix printer with the Estate Administration Professional
program?
A: No. The program requires a laser printer. Dot matrix printers
generally print a page line by line while laser printers can print
an entire page of information at once. The software program actually
prints the form to the printer then overlays the inputted data onto
that form. This can be done only with a laser printer.
